How to Make a Pint Glass Display Shelf

Pint glasses can be used in many different ways. They can be used to can fruits and vegetables or they can be used for storage of arts and craft items. Once you have put a pint glass to good use, then it becomes a problem as to where to store it. Many people choose to create a display shelf, which can be a very eye catching piece.

Things you’ll need:
- 1-inch wood shelving
- Pint glass jar
- Wall anchors
- Stud screws
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Drill
- Screwdriver
- Hammer
- Wall stud finder
- Keyhole mounting brackets
- Mark on the wall where you would like your bottom shelf to sit. Place a pint jar on that line and mark the top of the jar. This will you give you an idea of the distance between shelves.
- Run your stud finder along the line on the wall and mark the locations of the studs.
- Drill four pilot holes in the wall. Try to hit a stud as this will make your shelf much stronger. Drill four pilot holes in your shelves, matching up to the four holes in the wall.
- Hammer a drywall anchor into each pilot hole you drilled into the wall. If your pilot hole hit a stud then you will not need a drywall anchor. If it did not and you only hit drywall, then you will need the anchor.
- Screw your screws into the pilot holes and anchor if you used one. Do not screw them all the way in, make sure to leave the heads of the screws out about an inch.

- Take your keyhole brackets and attach them to the pilot holes on the shelves.
- Place the heads of each screw on the wall through the bigger hole on the keyhole brackets. Slide the shelves over slightly so that the screw head slips into places and lock. Once you have added the desired number of shelves, you can place your pint glass jars on the shelf. Remember that each shelf that is screwed into the wall studs can hold approximately 30 pounds of weight, whereas if it is just screwed into drywall it can only hold up to 10 pounds of weight.
