How to Make a Wedding Veil
A bridal veil can cost anywhere from $50 to several hundred dollars. This is just one of the reasons that most brides are now making their own veils. Not only is it a great way to save money, but it is also a way to know that you are getting exactly what you want.
How to Make a Wedding Veil
Choose the length of veil that you want. You will need approximately 24" of fabric for a shoulder length veil. Approximately 32" of material is needed for a waist length veil, and 40" of material for a fingertip length veil. The lengths may need to be adjusted for the height of the bride.
You will need to purchase some tulle, which is the material needed to make the veil. This can be purchased from any fabric store.
Spread the tulle out on a large table.
Fold the material in half, and use an heavy object to make sure that the material does not move.
Use scissors to cut the edges of the material into a curved shape. Do not cut the folded edge of the fabric.
Unfold the material and stitch the material along the straight edge. Approximately 3" inside of the edge, sew all the way across the veil.
After you have completed sewing, hold one end of the thread and push the material together to gather it.
Use a fabric glue gun to attach the veil to a 4" comb.
