How to Organize a Family Fitness Program at Health Clubs
It can be easy for a family to eat unhealthfully, avoid exercising and have poor nutrition. If the family works towards their goals to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle, each person can enjoy a better life. A family fitness program will not only make a family healthier, it will bring them closer together.
- Put together a diet and exercise plan for families. This should include information about healthy eating, a list of healthy foods and recipes that families can easily follow. Cardiovascular activities the family can enjoy together and as individuals should be included. Include guidelines for how often to work out and which exercises to complete along with eating habits. Goal sheets and check in charts should also be created.
- Post ads and information around the health club for people to see, and at other local establishments. This will attract people to the program and your first meeting.
- Arrange for a meeting at the health club where families or parents can come and sit down. Go through the different sheets and explain the mental and physical obligations that each family will need to make and how the program will work. Encourage the family to make goals at the beginning of the program for each individual person and as a whole. This can include eating goals, weight goals and more.
- Place the check-in charts at the front desk, and ask parents and children to weigh themselves once a week to see how the program is developing. Check out the charts weekly to monitor everyone and to see who is lacking. Reach out to those who aren’t doing well for motivation and encouragement. Try to get the family back on track with all of their goals as quickly as possible.
- Gather again at the end of the program. This is where the family can reflect on progress that they made throughout the past months. Offering prizes for families is a great motivational tool. For those who enjoyed the program or didn’t do well, discuss when the program will restart and also what they can do differently.
