How to Procure Photocopiers
Procuring, or buying, a photocopier for home use or for office use is something that should be done only after you have spent at least a little time researching. Photocopiers offer a variety of functions and so are more expensive than your average printer; you want to make sure what you have purchased is going to be a good fit for your home or office.
1.) Confer with your IT department before doing anything. Whether your company is small or large, your IT department will most likely be the ones setting the copier up and networking it so it will be accessible by others. Your IT department may already have existing contracts and agreements with certain photocopier companies and you would want to take advantage of these if possible.
2.) Visit with coworkers and other departments to see what type of copier they are using and if they like it. See if they use all the features or if there are features they wish it had.
3.) Go to your local office supply store to physically check out the photocopiers available. There may be features offered you hadn't even considered, but may be able to use. The ability to copy double-sided without having to load the paper twice, for example, is for some a huge time saver. Printing on both sides of the paper is also a good way to minimize the amount of paper used so there is less waste.
4.) Do some online research as an alternative to store research. You will be able to read a variety of reviews from people all over rather than just in your town. This particular research is most valuable to those who are looking for a photocopier for their home office. Without coworkers to question, online reviews will give you the answers you're looking for.
