How to Program Alarm Clocks

Many people use alarm clocks to wake them up in the morning or to remind them to do a chore or activity such as taking medicine. Before alarm clocks can function properly, both the time and alarm time needs to be programmed.

  1. Plug the alarm clock into a power outlet. Choose an outlet that is behind a table or dresser so the clock will not come unplugged easily. Any time the clock is unplugged or the electricity goes out, it will need to be reprogrammed.

  2. Find the button on the clock that says "Time" or "Set Time." Press it, and hold it in.

  3. Locate the button that says "Hour." Press this button to get to the right time. If you want your clock and alarm to be accurate, you need to set the clock for the proper AM or PM mode. Most alarm clocks have a "PM" stamp located near the display. It will be lit when you are in PM time, and the light will go away when you are in AM.

  4. Locate the "Minute" button. Press it to get to the right time.

  5. Release the "Time" button when you are finished setting the time.

  6. Find the "Alarm" button. Press it, and hold it in.

  7. "Press the "Hour" button to set the alarm to the right hour.

  8. Press the "Minute" button to set the alarm to the right minutes.

  9. Release the "Alarm" button when you are finished setting the alarm.

  10. Locate the alarm switch. It should be on the top, side or back of the clock. When you are ready to set the alarm, move the switch to the "On" position. When you want to disable the alarm, move the switch to the "Off" position.
