How to Prove SSI Income

You must prove Supplemental Security Income if you are applying for additional state benefits or programs.  Make sure that you have all the information that you will need, including photo identification, before you go to the social security office to get the paperwork that you need.

  1. Prepare the information you will need to get Supplemental Security Income information.  You will need your social security card as well as any photo identification that you have.  These items will prove who you are so that you can get your paperwork.

  2. Visit the local Social Security office in your area.  If you are unsure where this is located, call the governmental office in your location and inquire about how to find it.

  3. Provide your information to the Social Security office and ask for verification of the SSI benefits that you are currently receiving.  An employee at the office will print out paperwork indicating this for you.  Make sure that the printout that you receive has a signature and stamp included on it.  Many places that require proof of SSI income will need to see these things to make sure that your paperwork is valid.

  4. Check the printout that was provided to you to make sure that all of the information is accurate.  Look at your name, date of birth, social security number, and the amount of your benefits to make sure that these are all correct.  Have any information corrected at this time if you see that there are errors.
