How to Record Music on a Yamaha Keyboard
It is a lot of fun to make music on a Yamaha keyboard. Once you tap into your inner creativity and begin making some great compositions you will want to be able to share them with your friends. In order to do so you will need to know how to record music.
Things You'll Need
- A MIDI cable
- A USB cable
- A computer
- A floppy disk
- A burner: either for CDs or for DVDs
How to Record With Your Yahama Keyboard Connected to Your Computer
- Connect a MIDI cable to your Yamaha keyboard. Plug the “MIDI out” end of the cable into your keyboard and then plug the “MIDI in” end of the cable into your computer.
- Set your keyboard’s channel to a MIDI Channel. Any drivers that you may need can be found at the Yamaha website.
- Open an audio editing program on your computer to import the music that you have recorded. You may also have the option to record straight into your audio program without having to pre-record.
How to Record Directly From Your Yahama Keyboard
- Use your Yamaha keyboard’s internal memory to record the music that you create. Simply press the record tab and play your music. The music will then be stored internally within your Yamaha keyboard.
- You can create a recording straight onto either a CD or a DVD by using a CD or a DVD burner. Simply connect the optimal outputs (i.e. a headphone to the analog inputs) that are on the back end of your CD or DVD recorder.
