How to Recycle Used Wine Bottles for Cash

Many people are trying to find ways to make some extra money during this economy. If you drink a lot of wine or know someone that does, you can recycle used wine bottles for cash. Unfortunately, only certain states allow you recycle wine bottles for cash. If you do not live in a state that allows this, you will not be able to get cash for your wine bottles

  1. Make sure you live in a state that allows you to get cash for your empty wine bottles. Only 11 states in the United States are in the Bottle Bill program, which is the program that allows you to get cash for your wine bottles. These states are Oregon, California, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Vermont, New York, Connecticut, Iowa, Delaware, and Massachusetts.

  2. Find out where you can take your wine bottles for recycling. Your local grocery store may know where you can take them. You may also ask the place where you purchase your wine. You can also look online for a recycling plant in your area where you can take your wine bottles and receive cash for them. Make sure wherever you take them will give you cash for the bottles.

  3. Gather up your wine bottles and take them to the recycling plant that you found. If you only have a few, you may be able to put them in a machine and receive cash back. If you have a lot of them, contact them ahead of time and ask them where you should take them. An employee of the plant will be able to help you when you get there.
