How to Reduce Bags Under Eyes

Bags under your eyes can make you look tired and worn out, although it often has nothing to do with tiredness. There are a number of reasons why this can occur. For example, the fat that normally supports your eyes can start to slide downward and settle in your lower lids. Another cause could be the accumulation of fluids beneath each eye. Regardless of the cause, there are ways to reduce this appearance.

  • Add an extra pillow beneath your head to elevate it at night. This will prevent the fluids from overly accumulating beneath your eyes while you are at rest.

  • Apply a cool compress over the baggy area of each eye. Use mild pressure and leave the compress on for approximately two minutes per eye.

  • Apply a wet washcloth over your eyes and face in the morning as soon as you wake up. Get the washcloth as cold as you can. The cold temperature of the water helps tighten up any loose blood vessels that may be under your eyes, in turn giving you under-eye bags.

  • Soak green tea bags in cold water. Place the cold bags under your eyes for approximately 10 minutes.

  • Apply a thin layer of Preparation H over the baggy areas for a half hour. Only the cream form should be used. This can help to reduce the baggy appearance by tightening the area. Take care not to get the cream in your eyes.
