How to Repair a Wobbly Table
A wobbly table can be a very annoying piece of furniture. Luckily once you determine the cause of the wobble there are a number of quick and easy fixes. You only need a couple of tools and supplies and a few minutes of your time in order to fix the problem.
How to Repair a Wobbly Table
- Determine the reason that the table wobbles. It could be caused by a missing glide, a loose joint or one leg being shorter than the others. Lay the table on a flat surface with the table top on the floor in order to examine the legs.
- If one leg is shorter than the others you will need a wine bottle cork and some wood glue. Measure the difference between the shorter leg and the others. Cut a piece of cork to make up the difference. Glue it to the shorter leg. Let the glue dry before standing the table upright.
- If your table has glides or knobs on the bottom to project your floor see if one is missing. If it is you can buy a replacement at the home improvement store. Place it on the table leg and the wobble should be gone.
- A loose joint can cause a table to wobble so tighten all the screws that attach the leg to the table. You may also place some wood glue around the screws to hold them in place better.
