How to Reset a Charter Cable Box

Charter Communications provides its customers with cable television and high-speed Internet service. If you are having problems with your Charter cable box, you might want to try resetting the cable box before you decide to contact the customer service department.

  1. Turn off your Charter cable box. Simply press the power button to turn off the cable box. You can find two power buttons that control your Charter cable box. One is located on your digital remote control. The other is located on the front of the cable box.

  2. Disconnect the power source from the cable box. You have two options available. You can simply unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. If the wall outlet is hard to reach, you can opt to disconnect the power source from the back of the Charter cable box itself by unplugging it from its port.

  3. Allow 15 seconds for the cable box to fully reset.

  4. Reconnect the power source, either by plugging the cord back into the wall outlet or reconnecting the power cord to the port at the back of the cable box.

  5. Turn the cable box on. Allow a minute or two for the cable box to reboot. You should see a "welcome" screen appear on the front of your cable box. Grab the remote and test a few different functions to determine whether or not the box is functioning properly.

  6. If you are still having issues with your cable box, contact your local Charter Comuincations customer service representative.
