How to Send a Letter to the Bank for an Account Statement
Most banks no longer send an account statement to their customers through the mail because most people now do online banking. If you need an account statement, however, you can obtain it online. You can also send a letter to the bank for an account statement, if you prefer.
- Find out what the address is for the bank you want to send your letter to. You can navigate to the bank’s website to find the address or look on any old account statements you may have. Try to send your letter to the branch where you opened your account.
- Write your letter on your computer to make it more formal. Open the word processing software you are going to use to write the letter, such as Microsoft Word, and open a blank document. Type your name and address first on the left side of the page, and press “Enter” twice and type the date. Press “Enter” three times and type “Dear Bank Manager,” or put the contact name if you have it.
- Start writing the letter requesting a physical copy of your account statement. Make sure you put your bank account number, as well as the month of the account statement that you need. Type your name, Social Security number, driver’s license number, and date of birth, so the bank manager can verify it is you.
- Type a closing paragraph thanking them for their help, as well as a way they can contact you if they need to. Give them your phone number, as well as your email address.
- Type the closing, such as “Sincerely yours” and write your name with a pen. Mail the letter to the bank and wait for them to mail you the account statements you requested.
