How to Set Up a Cable Splitter
You can have the ability to watch two or more TV cable channels from a single cable port by using a cable splitter. Splitting cable signals works really well especially if you only have one cable hook up available in your home. Setting up a cable splitter is easy and the benefits are well worth it.
Things You'll Need:
- Coaxial cable splitter (two-, three- or four-output)
- One section of coaxial cable per output on the splitter
- Connect a coaxial cable to run from the cable hookup to the splitter side that has one hookup on it. Connect both sides by twisting both ends of the coaxial cable firmly until tightened into place.
- Connect at least two cables to where the side of the splitter contains two or more splitter hookups. Again, connect both sides by twisting both ends of the coaxial cable firmly until tightened into place.
- Run the coaxial cables that you've just connected in Step 2 to each of the cable boxes that you want connected. To connect the coaxial cable to the cable box, twist the end of the coaxial cable into the "In" port on the back of the cable box. Make sure that you connect the cable very firm so the splitter will work.
- Connect another coaxial cable from the "Out" port of the cable box directly to the television. Tightly and firmly twist both ends of the coaxial cable to make sure that both sides are securely connected. Enjoy the benefits of viewing multiple channels from setting up your cable splitter.
