How to Stop Alarm Clocks
Alarms are used to wake people up or to notify them of a certain time. When an alarm is set and goes off, it will continue to go off until it is turned off. Alarms can be turned off by pushing the "Snooze" button, unplugging the clock or moving the switch to "Off."
- Check the top, side or back of the alarm for a button that says snooze or sleep. A snooze button will turn off an alarm for a certain period, usually five to 10 minutes. Some types of alarm clocks may allow you to program the amount of time the snooze button keeps the alarm off. The snooze button is only a temporary way to shut off an alarm.
- Locate the On/Off button on the clock. This button will look like a switch or button. When you set the alarm, you need to switch the button to the "On" position to activate it. Once the alarm goes off, you can turn the switch to the "Off" position to stop the alarm. This will stop the alarm until you turn it back on. This is the permanent way to turn off the alarm.
- Unplug the alarm clock if it is going off and you cannot find any other way to stop it. This will stop the alarm and turn off the entire clock. The clock will need to be reprogrammed to the right time, and the alarm will need to be reset. Unplugging the clock can stop the alarm long enough to located the snooze or "Off" switch.
