How to Transfer Money to an International Bank Account Number

If you are paying for an item or services or just need to send money to a foreign account, you can do so by getting an international money transfer. These transfers are handled by banks and other financial institutions and require the recipient's bank account number, routing number and contact information.

  1. Check with your bank to determine whether they are authorized to send international money transfers. If not, you will need to locate an international money wiring office. They are often located in grocery stores or cash advance businesses.

  2. Fill out an international money transfer form. You will be required to include your bank account number, bank routing number, name and contact information. You will also need to include the recipient's name, contact information and bank account and routing number. Write the amount of money that will be transferred into the proper box.

  3. Pay the required fee to transfer the money. This fee will vary by each bank or company that is transferring the money and may depend on the amount of money being transferred and the country it is being transferred to.

  4. Allow the bank teller or cashier to enter your information into the computer or money transfer program. Ask for a receipt that shows the details and the transaction number. You will need this if the money is not transferred properly or if another problem with the transfer occurs. It can take several days for an international money transfer to take place. Contact the bank or the person the money was transferred to if you want to make sure the money was received.
