How to Use Lava Rocks in an Electric BBQ Grill

Lava rocks are not only used in gas BBQ grills. These volcanic rocks are also used in electric BBQ grills. By using these rocks in your electric BBQ grill you have heat that lasts long after you turn off your electric BBQ grill. This allows you to cook even more foods without using additional power.

- Set your lava rocks one deep across a steel grate. Set this grate onto the top of your electric grill element. The lava rocks should touch together but not overlap each other as this could cause damage later on.
- Set grill that came with your electric grill over the top of these lava rocks. You want at least a few inches between this grill and the lava rocks. You do not want the lava rocks to directly touch your food.
- Turn on your electric grill and allow it to heat up these lava rocks. Set the grill temperature to the same setting you normally do when grilling.

- Begin grilling your foods until they are cooked completely. The grease from these foods will not damage the lava rocks.
- Turn off the electric grill element once you are completely finished grilling.
- Allow the lava rocks to completely cook. If you wish to leave the lava rock inside your electric grill you should turn these lava rocks over after they are cool. When using lava rocks inside grills it is recommended that you turn the lava rocks each time you grill. If you do not wish to leave them in your grill you should allow them to cool down for at least 24 hours and place them in a storage container.
