How to Use Signage for Advertising
Business signs are one of the most important aspects of a business' advertising. They tell people who, what, and where you are. You want your signs to grab attention and get out your information quickly and efficiently. A good sign does not require the reader to give undivided attention, and still gets the point across.
Store Front Signs
The sign that you put up in front of your business needs to be able to be seen. The more people that can see it, the more business you will get. Having a sign that gets lost is a jumble of other signs, or one that cannot be seen from the road, can have potential customers whizzing right by. If they can see the sign of your competitor a block down, that is where they will go; they didn't even know you were there. Make sure your sign has adequate lighting too if have dusk or nighttime operating hours.
Street Signs
If you are permitted to have a sign out by the street by all means take advantage of it. A simple A-frame made of wood can be quite effective. You can put up any specials you might be having on the sign. People love a good deal; let them know you have one.
Signs Reach Your Customers
A sign in your window, above your door, on a pole in front of the shopping center, or even an A-frame on the street are all ways of communicating with the people that see them. They will remember seeing the sign and where it was. Most people shop close to either home or work, a place they are familiar with. Having advertising that is going out to people that are never in your area is a waste of money. Unless you have some very rare, unique business, your customers will be the people that travel by your shop on a regular basis. Signage is the way to let them know you are there and what you do.
