How to Watch Hip Hop Music Videos

Hip hop is a genre of music that started in the 1970s. It emerged into a culture during the 1980s and remains a permanent part of music today. Music videos were created to give fans a visualization of the artist's creative vision and the background to a song.

1. Watch the music video shows on cable networks. Channels like MTV, BET and VH1 are networks that specialize in music videos. Although they do not play music videos all day anymore, you may be able to catch your favorite hip hop music video during their scheduled programs.

2. Visit YouTube to find the hip hop video you want to watch. Use the search bar to find the artist or the song you are looking for. YouTube results are sometimes tricky when trying to determine the official music video. You can determine an official music video by the account. YouTube verifies an artists' account, so videos with a random name attached to a hip hop music video are not official. Often you will see the word "official" in the title, but this does not mean the hip hop video is from an official source.

3. Go to the hip hop artist's web site to view official videos. If you are looking for a specific artist's song, you can go to their site to find their videos. Often times they link their videos to YouTube or Vevo; sometimes this is the easiest way to know which one is the official video from the artist.
