How to Wire a Dual CD Player

Many people like dual CD players for its ability to have two units operating as one. They are especially useful for DJs who need to move swiftly from one song to the next without interruptions or pauses. Having a dual player will reduce the cables and power supply sources required.

Items Needed:

  • Amplifier

  • Speakers

  • Mixer and CD player

  • Cables

  • Multi channel mixer

  1. Examine the CD player and ensure that you have your users manual close by. This will help you to identify all the components and cables. Inspect the back of the player which is where all the input and output sources are located.

  2. Turn off the mixer and ensure that the power at the main source is off.

  3. Disconnect the CD player and check the rear to make sure you can identify the outputs. Match them with the inputs on the mixer. Make sure you have balanced outputs for best results.

  4. Connect cables from the input of the first channel of the mixer to the first output connector located at the rear of the CD player. The connector will often be marked as deck 1.

  5. Repeat the action with the second pair of cables. Connect them from the mixer to the second deck or output on the player.

  6. Attach the outputs on the mixer to the amplifier inputs, and then the speaker inputs to the amplifier outputs.

  7. Turn on the power and create balance between the CD player, amplifier, mixer and speakers. Search through the channels until you blend all the equipment to enable the player to use equalized tone and volume control.

  8. Play a couple of your favorite music CDs to test your new player and speakers.
