How to Find Russian Blue Kittens

Russian Blue Cats and Allergies

The Russian Blue is perhaps the most regal-looking of all cat breeds, with its blue-gray coat of fur and piercing green eyes. Russian Blues are a widely recommended breed for their friendly behavior and laid-back disposition. Some Russian Blue owners have said this breed is hypoallergenic and does not affect their allergies in the ways most cats do.

About Hypoallergenic Cats

According to Catster, no breed of cat is hypoallergenic - not even a hairless cat. While Russian Blues may not affect pet owners with allergies the way other breeds do, they are not a hypoallergenic cat and they do create allergens through their dander and possibly their saliva. However, if you suffer from animal allergies, this is one breed to consider since it does not have the same allergy affect on humans.

Help Prevent Allergies

Regardless if you suffer from severe allergies or just a mild case, it is always wise to dust and vacuum your home frequently if you have pets. This does help reduce the number of allergens that are released into the air throughout your home. Another suggestion would be to use an air purifier, which will extract any airborne allergens from pets.

Characteristics

Russian Blues are a one-of-a-kind breed with green eyes and a solid, silvery-blue coat. The fur of a Russian Blue is so vibrant it shimmers in the sunlight. Russian Blues have a double coat but are short-haired. They also have a unique mauve-colored toe pad for a blue cat. Do not be fooled by lookalikes, as there are some breeds out there like the British Chartreux and Korat breeds. These look similar to a Russian Blue except they have slate-blue or gray toe pads and blue, orange or yellow eyes.
