Wedding Shoes 101

Wedding shoes are one piece of your attire that you should choose carefully. There are many factors to consider when picking your perfect wedding shoes. There is a wide range of choices and it can seem a little overwhelming, almost like buying your dress all over again.

You would think that picking out shoes would be a simple task, but it turns out it is not. Picking your wedding shoes entails quite a number of things that much be considered.

Comfort

This is probably the top priority for most brides; you will be in these shoes for eight or more hours. When you are looking for comfort in a shoe check the heel. Look for a larger width instead of the cute spike. Look for arch support and consider a lower heel. Add a comfort pad to the inside of the shoe to help absorb the shock from the various surfaces you will be walking over.

Style and color

Make sure the style of the shoe is similar to that of the dress. You should carry a color swatch of your dress, if possible, to match it to your shoes. If you are unsure, purchase several pairs and take these home to view with the dress.  The slightest difference in color could be noticeable. If your dress is traditional in design, it may look a bit off with a funky vintage shoe.

Decoration

Keeping in line with style, be sure the decoration on a show doesn’t overwhelm your dress. While the shoe will be mostly hidden, there are key moments when it will be seen and you want it to mesh well with your dress.

Getting funky

If you prefer the non-traditional shoe such as a flip flop, wedge book or high tops, then go for it. The people attending your wedding know you and know your style. This is your wedding day, do what makes you happy.
