What are the Hardware Devices for Mobile Banking?

With advances in technology and increasing speed that people live their lives, mobile banking is gaining popularity.  Mobile banking applications are available on a number of hardware devices allowing people to easily access their banking information.  These applications allow users to verify checking account balances and schedule online payments.

Cell phone

Nearly all cell phones, also known as mobile phones, are manufactured with the processing power to support mobile banking applications.  All that is required to use your cell phone for mobile banking is a Wi-Fi connection or data network capability.  Mobile banking can be accomplished three ways, depending on the institution you bank with.  Mobile banking can be done through the SMS features of cell phones, but the downside is this method is not very secure.  Cell phones that support mobile web can access mobile banking sites through the mobile web feature.  Mobile client applications, commonly referred to as apps, can be downloaded on sophisticated cell phones to connect you to your banking institution.

Laptop

Laptop computers are very mobile devices.  In order to get an Internet connection on the go, and connect to your banking institution, your laptop needs to have wireless capabilities.  Alternately, you could keep an Ethernet cord with you to connect to any available wired networks when you travel.  Once you connect to the Internet, you can access your banking information through the institution's website.

iPad

The iPad and other hardware referred to as tablet computers are as convenient to carry as laptop computers, but are smaller and more lightweight.  These computers connect to the Internet using cell phone signals.  After securing an Internet connection, you can use your tablet computer to log on to your bank's website and do any mobile banking you need.
