Depending on what you will purchase, bad credit will cost you thousands of dollars in interest fees over the life of the loan. Think about it, if you have a credit score of 599 (bad credit), purchase a car for $25,000, and the terms are 60 months at a 14.99 % interest rate. Your payments would be $594.62, total interest paid would be $ 10,677.02, but if your credit score was 780 and you had purchased a car for $25,000. Your terms would be 60 months at a 2 % interest rate; your payment would be $438.19, total interest paid would be $1291.64. That’s a whopping $9,385.38 difference! So you see what I mean? Who wants to throw away that kind of money? That’s why repairing your credit before obtaining a loan is paramount!
A mortgage would be the same scenario, but you could be paying over $100,000 in interest over the life of the loan.
