About PC Repair Tools

These days PC repair tools are indispensable. Lots of people rely on their computer for banking, paying bills, shopping, researching, work at home jobs and checking email. When your PC begins to act strangely, slows down or quits performing properly, it is time to reach into your bag of tricks for PC repair tools.

Hardware Repair Tools

There are a variety of different hardware tools that may be required depending upon each individual computer make, model and accessories. Some of the basic hardware tools that you might want to keep on hand include canned air, thermal cooling paste, three-pronged grabbers, assorted screwdrivers, multi-meters, tweezers, cable cutters, pen light and an anti-static strap. You can purchase computer repair utility kits that include most of the tools you will ever need.

Software Repair Tools

Just like hardware repair tools there are many software repair tools on the market. Hopefully some of them you will never need. It is a good idea to keep the basic programs where you can get to them fast when your computer begins failing from one problem or another.

Before purchasing any software check your PC to see what programs are already included. Many computers already contain disk repair software and some anti-virus checkers. At one time or another you may need software for password recovery, drive diagnostics, disk defragmenting, memory checking and virus scanning and repair.

Using Repair Tools

Anti-virus software can scan the hard drive and remove viruses. Power cables and Ethernet cables can be tested using multi-meters to determine if they are faulty. Use thermal cooling paste for memory modules and the processor as prevention for overheating. When debris and dirt build up in the keyboard, canned air works fast to remove it.

Grabbers, screwdrivers and tweezers come in handy when you need to replace parts in the tight confines of a computer. Always unplug your PC before attempting any type of hardware repair and use an anti-static strap.
