Boat Storage Options
Boat storage is a concern for many people, whether they live in a home that has no storage space for their boat or just need a safe place to protect their boat against the elements. There are two main types of boat storage: indoor and outdoor.
Before deciding on which boat storage option to choose, it is important to tour different facilities and compare prices. It is essential that the storage you choose has 24-hour access, surveillance cameras, and fire and security alarms in each unit. Also, you want a storage unit that is close to your favorite boating location.
Indoor Options
This type of boat storage is usually large buildings, like warehouses. Most storage buildings will be four or five rows, floor to ceiling, of boats. This type is usually the least expensive and the staff will take your boat in and out of its space with a forklift. Some storage will be large bay areas, much like a garage. Climate control is another option for those that have more expensive or antique boats. Many storage places offer electricity, an area to work on your boat and a wash area.
Benefits of Indoor Storage
Indoor storage helps protect your boat from all the elements of Mother Nature, hurricanes, snow, rain and sun. It also offers extra security to ensure that your boat and investment is well-protected. The climate controlled units can protect your boat from mold and mildew.
Outdoor Options
Outdoor boat storage is the least expensive means to store your boat. There are two types: open and enclosed. The open storage may consist of a fenced-in area where all the boats are kept, which resembles a large parking lot. This type will provide no shelter for your boat, but will provide security. An enclosed storage area will offer shelter and may have additional amenities, like water and electricity.
