How Shotcrete Concrete Works
Concrete is notorious for being a relatively chunky mixture. Shotcrete is a lighter form of construction concrete. It is often used on roofs, floors and walls. It is a spray-on adhesive that can adhere to a smooth or textured area.
Benefits of Using Shotcrete
Shotcrete is an one of the most popular forms of concrete as it is durable, light, affordable, and air tight. With other forms of concrete many consumers will run into problems with infestations or cracking. However, shotcrete prevents such cracks and infestations. What makes shotcrete so ideal is that it can be sprayed on cracks and hard to reach corners. This product is able to adhere to other forms of concrete, wood and stone.
How Shotcrete Concrete Works
When applying shotcrete a hose is used to compress the air and shoot the concrete onto the desired surface. The type of hose used is known as a feeder hose, and it is attached to a nozzle. This particular nozzle creates a velocity which makes the bonding more durable. When applying the mixture there are two ways of applying it. You may use a wet mix or a dry mix. A wet mix contains cement, water, various admixtures, and is mixed together throughly.
A dry mixture is combined with water and fed through a hose. This allows the dry mixture to be compressed and dampened. Both of these effects have completely different results. Both methods can be altered to create curving for panels, or angles.
After shotcrete is applied it may be smoothed with different instruments to give a different appearance. It may also be colored as traditional concrete when wet. This form of concrete has so much functionality as it can look like a material such as brick or stone.
