How to Apply Concrete Over Tile
Removing tile can be a strenuous task for just about anyone, but luckily, there is a way to lay concrete over tile in just several steps. Before beginning the steps, you must make sure that the tile is in good condition or the floor could become permanently damaged.
Tools needed:
5 gallon bucket
30 grit sandpaper
Vacuum cleaner
Concrete mix
Denatured alcohol
Trowel
Step 1: Make sure the tile is properly adhered to the foundation of the floor.
Step 2: Take the 30 grit sand paper and sand the entire surface using a circular motion. Once finished, use a vacuum cleaner to pull up the debris.
Step 3: Fill the bucket with at least four gallons of warm water and one gallon of denatured alcohol. Next, use a rag and thoroughly clean the floor with the liquid solution. The alcohol helps the tiles to dry much faster.
Step 4: Start to prepare the concrete mixture once the entire surface is completely dry. Preparation for the mix is usually on the product label.
Step 5: Start at the corner of the room and apply the concrete mixture using a trowel. Be sure to carefully cover the grout lines and lay the concrete as flat as possible.
Step 6: Allow the concrete to completely dry for at least 48 hours.
