How to Change a Refrigerator Water Filter
If you own a refrigerator that makes ice or dispenses water, you will need to replace the water filter every so often. To properly do this you must make sure that you purchase the correct filter for your model of refrigerator to ensure that you can continue to get clean water.
Things You'll Need:
- Refrigerator manual
- New water filter
- Make sure that you have purchased the correct water filter to replace the old one in your refrigerator. If you are unsure of which filter to purchase, write down the make and model of the refrigerator that you own and take it to the appliance store to ask an employee to help you find one.
- Look in the manual for your refrigerator to find out where the water filter is located. If you do not have your manual, look in your refrigerator to see if you can locate the area where your filter is housed. This usually is at the back of the fridge somewhere on the top shelf.
- Remove all items from the shelf where the water filter is located so that you can easily replace the filter.
- Remove the cover from the water filter and pull the filter out. Throw the used filter in the trash.
- Take out your new filter and put it in place where the old filter was located.
- Replace the cover and make sure to put all items back into the refrigerator.
- Try out the water function on your refrigerator when you are done to make sure that it still works properly.
