How to Choose Subwoofers for Your Car Stereo

The subwoofers you choose for your car stereo can greatly effect the sounds it produces. Subwoofers are needed to amplify and produce the deep and low tones that make the bass sound. The larger the subwoofers, the deeper the bass sound.

  • Set a budget. Subwoofers come in a variety of sizes, wattages, brands and models. Setting a budget helps you find the subwoofers that are right for you without spending too much money.

  • Consider the size of your car and the amount of room you have for the subwoofers. Many people prefer to use two subwoofers to amplify the bass. If you do not want an extremely loud bass, or if space is limited, you can use only one subwoofer.

  • Decide what size wattage you want the subwoofers to handle. The larger the subwoofer, the more wattage it will take and the more sound it can produce. If using large subwoofers with powerful wattage, you may also need to purchase an amplifier to avoid blowing the subwoofers.

  • Think about the type of music you listen to. If you listen to rock or rap, you may want to purchase large subwoofers. If you listen to country or jazz, you can use smaller subwoofers to create a moderate to low bass. Subwoofers are available in a variety of sizes.

  • Search for subwoofer reviews online to give you an idea of which subwoofer brands are more expensive, which are good and which are bad. This will also help you find which subwoofers are in your price range.
