How to Clean Humidifier Filters
Humidifiers are great for people who have problems breathing. They are also great for people who have dry skin. The system has filters in that help them work properly. The filters must be replaced but you can save money by cleaning them and replacing them.
Materials Needed:
- Water
- Towel
- Dish rack
- Pull the plug on the humidifier out of the socket. Allow the machine to sit for 15 minutes. Take the filter out of the system and take it with you to the kitchen. You should be able to find the filter in the bottom the humidifiers. If not, use the manual to locate it.
- Rinse the filter with water from the tap. This will remove as much deposits from it as possible. Plug the sink and fill it up with cold water. Submerge the filter into the water. Allow the filter to soak in the water for 20 minutes. Avoid putting any chemicals in the water with the filter because this will damage it.
- Remove the filter from the water and allow the sink to drain. Turn on the water and allow the clean water to run through the filter for about five minutes to rinse away any deposits from it.
- Place a towel flat on the countertop. Put the filter on top of the towel. Dry the filter with the towel to remove some of the water from it. Avoid wringing or squeezing the filter. Place the filter on a dish rack and allow it to completely dry. Replace the filter back into the humidifier.
