How to Clean Wine Glasses
Wine glasses are often used to celebrate a special event or for a holiday dinner. For wine glasses to allow the users to get the full taste and sensory experience of the wine, they must be properly cleaned between each use. This removes sediments, stains and flavor residue left behind by previous wine.
Items Needed:
- Rubber sink liner
- Rubber faucet cover
- Dish detergent
- Sponge or rag
- Bottle cleaning sponge
- Towel
- Dish drainer
- Line the sink with a rubber mat, and place a rubber guard over the tip of the faucet. Wine glasses are fragile. If they are banged against the metal faucet or sink, they may become cracked or broken. Plastic guards can be purchased from home improvement stores or department stores.
- Pour a capful of dish detergent into the sink and turn on the warm water. Allow the sink to fill up. The more glasses you are washing, the more water you will need in the sink. Turn off the water when the sink is full. Fill the opposite sink with clean, warm water.
- Place a wine glass into the water and allow it to soak for several seconds. Avoid putting more than one wine glass in the sink at once because the glasses could bang together and crack or break. Use a soft sponge or rag to clean the outside of the glass.
- Use a soft sponge bottle cleaner to clean the inside of the glass. Be gentle because it is easy to break the glasses if you handle them roughly.
- Place the clean wine glass in the sink of water to rinse it.
- Place the glass upside down on a towel or in a dish drainer. Continue to wash the other glasses, one at a time, while waiting for the previous one to dry.
- Use a soft towel to finish drying the wine glasses and to remove and prevent water spots. Place the wine glasses in the hutch or cabinet where they are kept.
