How to Hire a Landscaping Service
There are some important things to consider before you hire a landscaper. Always ask questions to make sure the landscaper does the kind of job you want. Inquire about the type of services they offer, especially if you’re only interested in certain ones.
- Look for a landscaper who offers the kind of services you need. Some services include lawn and bedding care, weed control, mulching, tree replacement and garden design and maintenance. Decide if you need a landscaper to tend to your landscaper on a regular basis or just for seasonal clean up.
- Call references for each landscaper you’re interested in. Ask questions about their professionalism, job performance and if they stayed within budget.
- Inquire about excavation and sub-base preparation. Also, ask about materials used, type of drainages and type of jointing sand used for hardscape construction. Other questions should include the kind of plants they use and type of grass for new lawns.
- Check to see if the landscaper has a busy schedule. Can you easily contact him if a problem comes up? Make sure they work along with you and don’t want to use only their ideas if you want to be involved in the project.
- Ask about the way they want to be paid. Some landscapers require some money up front and the rest when the job is finished and the customer is pleased. Others may require part of the payment up front, another part at the midpoint and the rest when the job is completed.
