How to Level Uneven Concrete Floors
Leveling uneven concrete floors is an easy project. It does not require many materials and not much labor, as the leveling compound does most of the work for you. In just a small amount of time, you could have your floors even and smooth.
- Clean the concrete floor you want to level. Nail wood down across any doorways or hallways to keep concrete out of any areas that you do not want leveled.
- Mix the concrete leveling mix. You want a thin consistency because this will be the primer coat.
- Use a broom with soft bristle to spread the mixture out smoothly. Let the concrete dry. Newer concrete floors only need one coat of primer. However, older concrete floors may need two coats of primer.
- Mix more concrete leveling compound. This batch of mix needs to be thicker than the last. Follow the instructions according to the manufacturer. Afterward, choose a place to start that allows you exit the room easily. You do not want to get yourself stuck in a corner.
- Pour the batch in the corner of your starting point and continue to pour along the wall until you have covered the length of the wall. You may need to mix more concrete leveling to cover the entire length.
- Pour another row of mixture along the first row of concrete. Continue to do this until you have covered the entire room. The concrete will level on its own. No further work is need. All you have to do is let it dry.
