How to Light a Fondue Pot
Fondue is a great treat to add to any party that you may be throwing, and offers a creative way to feed your guests. Fondue pots are extremely easy to figure out and require very little maintenance. The most dangerous thing about a fondue pot is lighting it.
Unless you have a burner that you can use, the heat source that you can use for your fondue pot will be a cooking fuel gel such as Sterno. You can purchase this type of gel in disposable canisters at most grocery stores.
Take off the lid for the cooking fuel gel. Put the can of cooking fuel gel under the bottom of the fondue pot.
Using a match, light the cooking fuel gel. When you are done with the gel, check the container. If there is anything left in the can, put the lid back on the can and store it in a place that is dry and cool. If there is not any left, you can just get rid of it. One can of this gel is going to burn for about an hour and a half.
If you are going to be making fondue that is for desert, you should use a tea light for your heat source. You are not going to need as much heat as you would if you were heating up meat.
Place the tea light in the section of the fondue pot that is used to burn. Using a match, light the tea light. The tea light is also going to burn for about an hour and a half.
