How to Make Beaded Wine Glass Charms
Wine glass charms are small, round charms that go around the bottom of a wine glass stem. Wine glass charms are great for large functions and parties because they ensure that everyone drink out of their own glass. Making beaded wine glass charms is an easy and fun party idea, and the finished product makes great hostess or office party gifts.
Things You Will Need
- Wine charm loops or earring hoops
- Beads
- Crimp tube, 1.3mm to 2mm diameter
- Needle nose pliers
- Go to your local bead shop or craft store and select the beads you would like to use. Beads come in a variety of sizes and colors so you can be as creative as you choose. The purpose of wine glass charms is to individualize each glass so select different color beads for each charm.
- Choose either wine charm loops or earring hoops for your charms. Wine charm loops are made specifically for making charms, but 1-inch earring hoops work just as well. Both have a closure to secure them around the wine glass stem, which is essential in a wine glass charm.
- Slide a crimp tube on your wine charm loop first. The purpose of the crimp tube is to keep the beads in place; as a result, they will be needed on both sides of your bead pattern.
- Thread your beads on the wine charm loop. Patterns of smaller beads on either side of a larger bead are popular, or simply use one large bead.
- Slide on another crimp tube once you have finished your bead pattern.
- Center the beads on your wine glass charm and then use needle nose pliers to crimp the crimp tubes in place so the beads cannot slide off of the charm.
- Use the needle nose pliers to bend the straight end of the wine charm loop up to make it fit through the hole in the other end. Bend only the last ¼ inch of the wire.
