How to Make Wine Glass Charms
Wine glass charms are fund and wonderful ways to personalize wine glasses for a social event, allowing guests to easily keep up with their glasses. While it is possible to buy charms that look great on the stems of wine glasses, it is also possible to use a few basic materials to create interesting wine glass charms that will be both practical and visually appealing.
Things You Need:
- Colorful buttons
- Picture wire
- Wire cutters
- Glue
- Select an even number of larger buttons and smaller buttons in colors and designs that will work well in the creation of each charm. For example, a big red button that is relatively flat can be paired with a faux pearl button that is considerable smaller to create an interesting look.
- Cut a section of picture wire that will fit onto the stem of the wine glass, but will not slip off the base. The idea is to eventually create a loop that can be slid into position but will not fall off or interfere with holding the glass by the stem.
- Slide one end of the wire into the holes of the larger button, situating the button near the middle of the wire. Gently wrap the ends of the wire to form a loop, then slide the joined ends around to the button holes. Secure in place with a drop of glue.
- Cover the wire ends and the glue with the second smaller button. Allow the glue to harden. When completed, the smaller button hides the raw ends of the wire and serves as a focal point for the look of the charm. Make each wine glass charm unique, as this will allow guests to pick and choose the design of their choice, and will also make it easier to distinguish which glass belongs to which guest.
- Keep in mind that other elements can be added to further embellish this basic design. Sprigs of greenery or ribbon may be added for a seasonal touch, or the wire can be wrapped with florist tape of even spray painted for a different look. Let your imagination run wild and the end result will be unique wine glass charms that will amuse and delight each of your guests.
