Materials Needed
- Pot
- Low fat Swiss cheese
- Low fat Neufchatel cheese or low fat cream cheese
- Cornstarch
- Spoon
- Dry white wine
- Lemon juice
- Fondue pot
- Put a pot on the stove. Pour in 2 cups of low fat Swiss cheese to the pot. You can cut up chunks or use the shredded cheese, if available. Add 2 cups of low fat Neufchatel cheese to the pot. If you are unable to find Neufchatel cheese, you can substitute 2 cups of low fat cream cheese. Add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in the pot with the cheese. Stir the ingredients.
- Turn on the stove to low heat. Allow ingredients to melt while stirring them occasionally. As soon as the cheese mixture begins to bubble, add the wine. Pour in 1 cup of dry white wine and stir the mixture. Once you notice really small bubbles, remove the pot from the stove. You want the mixture to bubble but not boil. Turn off the stove.
- Stir the mixture. Allow it to sit for two minutes to blend and stir the mixture again. Add 3 tablespoons of lemon juice to the pot. Add a dash of salt and pepper to suit your taste. Stir the salt and pepper into the mixture.
- Put your fondue pot on the counter. Pour the low fat cheese fondue into the fondue pot. Serve the fondue immediately.
