How to Make Moose Decor Gifts

The moose is a favorite animal for many people. Cabins, homes and businesses are often decorated with moose-themed items. You may find a moose head on the wall, antlers over the door, or throws on the chairs with sceneries depicting a spectacular bull moose bearing full antlers. Moose are the largest of the deer family, and roam wild in Northern U.S., Canada and Alaska.

  • Carve your own decorations from moose antlers or purchasing already carved antlers.  North American Native American artists carve beautiful items that can be integrated into other household items.

    • Google or contact Alaskan or Canadian scrimshaw artists for their unfinished antler pieces.

    • Purchase exquisite carved antler pieces and incorporate them into switchplates, outlet covers or door knobs.

    • Find wood or natural material switch plates from your local home supply center.  Lightly clean and polish the antler fragment. Ask the artist you purchase the piece from what he recommends. Using a clear drying epoxy, glue the antler fragment to the top, bottom and sides of the light switch, outlet covers to make a custom, home made, rustic matching set to decorate your home.

    • Use flat or recessed, non-locking door knobs. If you need the locking aspect for bedroom or bathroom privacy, ask the artist to custom-make a round antler specifically for the type of door knob in  your home or to match what you are planning to purchase.

  • Knitters and weavers can make amazing throws from photographs of moose.

  • Sew pillows and other household items from moose-printed cloth.

  • Order a mounted moose head or antlers online.

  • Order a moose antler chandelier.

  • Decorate the walls with moose-themed wall paper.
