How to Make Your Own Fondue Pot
Fondue makes a delicious cheesy meal or a decadent chocolate dessert. Fondue sets that include a fondue pot are sold in many home stores but fondue pots can easily be made with items that you probably already have in your kitchen.
Sauce Pan and Ceramic Bowl Method
- Prepare your favorite cheese or chocolate fondue recipe in a sauce pan over very low heat. Take your time to melt the cheese or chocolate slowly to prevent scorching.
- Take out a ceramic serving bowl that is large enough to hold the amount of fondue that you have prepared.
- Pour your fondue into the ceramic bowl.
- Place ceramic bowl on a wire rack that is 6 to 8 inches above your eating surface.
- Place a lit canned heat source or tea candle below the ceramic bowl.
- Enjoy your fondue. Stir occasionally.
Double Boiler Method
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in the bottom of a double boiler pan.
- In the top of the double broiler pan, combine the ingredients of your favorite fondue recipe.
- Let the ingredients melt together, stirring occasionally.
- Place double boiler on a wire rack.
- Light a canned heat source or tea candle under the double boiler. The heat source will keep the water hot and the steam from the hot water will keep the fondue from hardening.
Slow Cooker Method
- Place fondue ingredients in a 3-quart slow cooker. Make sure it is at least half full to prevent burning the fondue.
- Heat the ingredients on high heat for 30 to 40 minutes until fully melted. Stir to combine.
- Lower the heat to the 'Keep Warm' setting. If your slow cooker does not have this setting, turn the heat to low.
- Enjoy your fondue while keeping the slow cooker plugged in and turned on.
