How to Make Your Own Fondue Set
If you love fondue, yet do not have a fancy fondue set at home, you can make your own fondue set in not time using a few supplies. You will need a flame-proof bowl such as a glass or pyrex dish, a caterer's rack and some tea light candles in order to prepare you own fondue set.
- Look at your local party supply store to see if they sell pot racks for catering events, as many of them do. If not, locate your nearest caterer and ask if them if you could purchase a metal pot rack from them. These are usually rather inexpensive, and should not be that hard to find.
- Choose a pot or glass dish that you would like to use for your fondue set. You can choose any flame-resistant pot or bowl such as aluminum, glass or Pyrex. Choose one that is going to hold the desired amount of your chocolate or cheese.
- Place the pot or bowl that you have chosen on top of your metal pot rack and ensure that it fits stably. You do not want your heated ingredients to dump over and burn someone.
- Heat the cheese or chocolate that you would like to use for your fondue on the stove in a sauce pan to heat up to the desired temperature. Be sure that you stir them frequently so that they do not scorch the bottom during the heating process.
- Pour the ingredients from your sauce pan, once they have reached the desired temperature, into your fondue pot or bowl that you are using.
- Light a few tea light candles, and place them underneath your pot or bowl that you are using. The amount that you will need will depend on the size of the pot or bowl. A good rule to follow is that they should be about two inches apart from one another.
