How to Make a Fiberglass Snow Rake

If you live in a geographical area that gets a great deal of snow fall, then you no doubt have experienced your fair share of broken shovels. The best equipment to use for heavy snowfall is a fiberglass snow rake.

Things you will need:

  • 3-foot pine board

  • Fiberglass extension pole

  • Bolts, nuts and washers

  • Brackets

  • Drill

  • Measuring tape

  • Pencil

  1. Purchase the supplies for the job. You can get the pine boards and extension pole at a hardware or home improvement store, along with any other tools that you do not already own.

  2. Put your supplies out on a flat work surface. You will need ample room to build the rake so pick a spot that has enough room for your materials. Use a flat work bench or table.

  3. Determine the measurements for the pine boards. Using a measuring tape, measure out the dimensions for the pine board. Locate the middle section and mark that spot with a pencil. Next, put the fiberglass pole directly in the center of the board and put brackets on each side of it. Take the pole out and set it aside. Drill a hole in each of the brackets.

  4. Attach the bolts to the board. Fasten the bolts through the board and secure them with washers and nuts.

  5. Attach the pole to the brackets. Put the pole back between the two brackets and drill through both the bracket holes and the pole. Use nuts to screw the end of the bolts to secure the pole to the bracket.
