How to Pick a Computer Stereo System
A computer stereo system is a great asset to your computer. Being able to record from the stereo to the computer and from the computer to the stereo is a great benefit. Finding a system that is a good price and good quality allows for the maximum benefit of a computer stereo system.
- Determine how much money you are willing to spend on the system. A good and effective system can be expensive. Some systems may be very cheap but not sufficient or practical making the recording process much more difficult.
- Decide which way you want your stereo system to connect to your computer. You can connect it either by a PCI card, USB port or a FireWire port. To use a PCI card you will need to open your computer and install it if you do not have it already. A USB connection is very easy since all you have to do is plug and play. Using a FireWire port may require you to download additional software. Choose either you will need digital, analog or both.
- Look at computer stereo systems at different stores and on the Internet. Compare the prices and features of several different systems. Talk to an associate on the phone or in person about your computer and what you want to be able to accomplish with the stereo system.
- Listen to the stereo system before you make the purchase. You will want a system that plays the sound as truthfully as possible. Listen to the sound of the high frequencies and the base. If the store offers to allow you to take the system home to try it out, take the chance. Be sure you are happy with the sound of the system before closing the deal.
