How to Pour a Concrete Slab on a Slant
You have to be careful and precise when you pour a concrete slab. The best way to keep the slants or the ramps correct is to make forms so you will know where the slope should be. When you learn and use the proper techniques, you will be better able to control how high and far the slant will be. This will enable you to create a safe area for people to walk on.
How to Pour a Concrete Slab on a Slant
Materials Needed
- Chalk line
- Concrete mix
- Wheelbarrow
- Concrete vibrator
- Shovel
- 2x4 lumber
- Float finish
- Broom
- Mark the areas that show how high the concrete will need to be poured. Snap chalk lines all along the areas so the areas will be visible to you.
- Follow the directions on the package of concrete to mix it. Mix the concrete in a wheelbarrow. Make sure you use the least amount of consistency or less water. Using less water will make the concrete stiff and it will also be easier to handle on the slant.
- Pour the concrete starting with the deep areas of the slant. Pour from the bottom part and move upwards.
- Make sure you smooth out any bubbles in the concrete using a concrete vibrator. Level the concrete with a shovel.
- Pull a 2x4 across the concrete to level it out. Use a back and forth direction to make sure it is even.
- Use a float finish to go over the concrete. Once the concrete is light in color, use a broom to lightly sweep it.
