How to Receive Higher Cable Channels on TV
The basic television is limited to how high the channels can go. In order to increase the number of channels you can access, you must first change your cable package as well as adjust a few things on your television set.
What You Will Need
- RCA audio/video cable
- Contact the cable service provider you have service with.
- Upgrade your service to a package that offers additional channels. The lower you package is the less channels you will receive.
- Change the cables that connect your television to your receiver from a coaxial cable to an RCA audio/video cable. To do this, you will need to follow the following steps:
- Unhook the coaxial cable from both the television and the cable receiver.
- Insert the RCA audio/video cable into the “Video Out” input on the back of the receiver.
- Insert the other end of the RCA audio/video cable into the port labeled “Video In” on the back of the television.
- Turn the power on to the television.
- Open the television’s menu screen.
- Choose “Channel Selection” from the menu screen.
- Enable the channel scan for your television and select “Cable” if prompted. This will have the television scan all available channels for your chosen cable package.
Additional Information
If you still can’t access the higher cable channels after changing your service package and changing out the cables, you may need to contact your service provider to have a service technician come out and fix the problem.
