How to Remove Concrete Coatings
Concrete coatings cover the concrete in order to create a certain appearance, and can be changed as needed. This can be to match the decoration of the rooms or the homes nearby. If you would like to change the appearance of concrete in your home or yard, you can follow a couple of quick and easy steps.
Materials:
- Sand
blaster - Rubber
gloves - Sand
blaster - plastic
goggles - long
sleeved shirt - long
sleeved pants
1. Locate a floor sand blaster, rubber gloves, a long sleeved shirt and long parts along with rubber boots and protective plastic goggles for your eyes. You will also want to place a breathing mask over your mouth. Dangerous particles may come from the floor and be very harmful. This will help to make sure that particles will not enter your eyes, mouth or touch your skin and cause damage.
2. Make sure that the area is well ventilated. If possible, open any nearby windows or doors in order to allow air to enter the location. If there are no doors or windows, place a couple of fans near the entrance of the location to force some of the air out.
3. Turn the machine on and carefully go over the entire concrete surface five times. This may take quite a few minutes but it will complete the task. If the machine is too loud, you can put earplugs or headphones into your ears. Turn off the machine when this step has been completed.
4. Place sand paper onto the floor and carefully scrub the entire area. You should have a piece of sand paper in both of your hands. Make sure that you scrub by pressing firmly onto the floor and moving your hands in circular motions. Complete this step two or three times. This will help to loosen any coatings that the machine was not able to remove.
5. Turn on the machine and scrub the entire floor two more times. The floor will have no coatings on it and will be ready for another coating to be applied or to be left as a concrete area with nothing on it.
