How to Repair Golf Cart Tires

Repairing a golf tire is slightly different than doing one on a car. The avid golfer should know how to repair one just in case there is not someone readily available on the grounds to fix it and there are no other carts available to use.

  • Elevate the cart. Use a jack and place it under the cart to gain access to the tire.

  • Take the lug nuts off the tire. This can be done with a socket wrench. Next, remove the tire from the cart.

  • Take the valve off the tire. Once the valve is removed, take the tire to an area with gravel or pavement and continuously push it back and forth until the rim is forced from the wheel. A tire iron may also be needed to completely remove the rim.

  • Wash the rim. Use mild liquid detergent and water to clean the rim. The more water that is used, the better, as the added moisture will make it easier to install the rim on the new tire.

  • Inspect the old tire. If the hole is not too big, it can be repaired with a simple patch kit. If damage is extensive, then a new tire will be needed.

  • Inflate the tire. Add the proper amount of air to the repaired or replacement tire.

  • Attach the rim back on the tire. Listen for a clicking sound to ensure that the rim is firmly locked on the tire.

  • Roll the tire back toward the cart. Secure the lug nuts back on the tire and lower the jack.
