How to Save Money on Airport Car Parking

Airport parking can be expensive, especially if you will be parking your car for more than one or two days.  To save yourself money on airport parking ask someone else to take you to the airport or consider public transportation services.  Also, consider asking airport parking about weekly rates or think about parking in a lot that is not connected to the airport.

  • Ask a friend or family member if they have time in their schedule to drive you to and from the airport.  This will save you from having to pay for parking at the airport completely.  Consider offering gas or a free dinner to the individual driving you to the airport to persuade them to give you a ride or to thank them for saving you money.

  • Contact the airport where you will be parking and ask whether or not there is a flat fee that you can pay for the entire time that you will be parked at the airport. Normally airport parking is charged by the day and this can be very expensive. Weekly rates that are offered will be cheaper providing a discount of 20 percent or more on parking fees.

  • Consider using public transportation or a cab service to take you to and from the airport.  The drivers for these services will be very familiar with taking people to and from the airport making this transportation option easy and hassle free.  Make sure to look up public transportation schedules or book a taxi trip early so that you will be prepared to get to the airport on time.

  • Consider parking in a parking area that is close to the airport but not connected to it. Often companies will have lots for parking that are near the airport that offer prices that are cheaper than airport parking.  Look for a parking lot like this that offers a reasonable rate on parking and provides shuttle service to and from the main terminal of the airport.
