How to Snowplow a Lot
When snow and ice begin to fall and accumulate, snowplows usually remove the snow from parking lots. Snowplows are the easiest and most efficient way to remove large amounts of snow from a lot, and the process is simple and fast.
- Start plowing the lot as soon as the snow begins to fall. Once a large amount of snow has accumulated, it will be difficult to remove. Even though you may need to plow an area more than once, you will save time by removing the snow before it has had a change to melt and refreeze or become too packed.
- Determine which way to plow the lot. The best way to plow is in the direction that has the most length. This way you will not need to make as many sharp turns or maneuver the snowplow as often.
- Plow around an obstacle before plowing the rest of the lot. Plow a circle around light posts and other obstacles, and then plow the snow to one side of the lot. Plow as close to the obstacles as possible without hitting them and causing damage to the obstacles or to the snowplow.
- Plow all the snow into a large pile or several piles near the edge of the lot or completely away from the lot. If the lot is large, or if portions of it are not used, you can move the snow to these parts. If the entire lot is needed, move the snow to a yard or behind any buildings near the lot.
