How to Splice a VGA Cable
The Video Graphics Array (VGA) cable is mostly used to connect desktop computers to monitors. The cable has a series of pins at the end that plug into the monitor. These cables can be used as a video cable for other video screens if spliced correctly.
Things You'll Need:
- VGA Adaptor
- RCA Cable
- Attach a VGA adaptor to the VGA port on your computer. The adaptors should fasten to your computer easily with the small screws on either side. These adaptors should be available at most electronic stores. The price will vary depending upon what brand you choose. Don't buy the cheapest or most expensive brand. The average priced adaptor will probably be the best value.
- Purchase and plug a yellow RCA cable into the adaptor on your computer. The RCA cable should also be found in most electronic stores. You need to purchase a yellow cable because they are the ones that transmit a video signal. The RCA cable should easily plug into your adaptor without any trouble.
- Plug the other end of the yellow RCA cables into the device you want the video signal to play through. Make sure you plug the cable into the "Video In" port.
- Turn your device on and change the input to where you plugged in the yellow RCA cable. You should now be able to watch whatever you wanted to play on your computer. Remember that the VGA cable doesn't produce any audio, so there will be no audio transmitted from the yellow RCA cable.
