Tips for Contemporary Fireplace Remodeling

The focal point of most sitting rooms tends to be the fireplace. Due to this, whenever you are updating your sitting room it is important to update the fireplace as well, so that the overall atmosphere of the room isn’t interrupted.

Tile

To help give the fireplace a more contemporary look, replace the bricks with tile. Don’t just consider using square tiles, but incorporate tiles which are triangles and diamonds as well. Additionally, add a bit of sparkle to your fireplace and use tiles which are metallic or iridescent. Tiles can also be a great way to incorporate the different colors which can be found in the room.

Paint

If you don’t want to replace the whole of your fireplace, consider updating its look with a coat of paint. For a truly different look, choose a coat of paint whose color complements the other colors found in the room instead of a typical wood-grain color. For a more contemporary style, make use of metallic shades such as silver or bronze as a neutral color. Anothe alternative would be to use a strong accent color for the fireplace to make it stand out like an accent wall would.

Update the Mantle

To truly update the fireplace, update the mantle by replacing it with one which appears sleeker and more contemporary than the style which is currently used. Additionally, paint the mantle with a color which contrasts which the fireplace itself. Or, to help the mantle stand out from the fireplace use a different technique for painting such as glazing.
